Yeah, a snow day...

We woke up to a lot of snow this morning. It snowed all evening and all last night. Jase was ready to go out by 7:15 this morning. Boomers loves the snow as much as the kids. Hallie is playing with him. Livee woke up and saw the kids outside and was ready. Savanna and Aleena have the right idea and are still snuggled in their beds. I love it. I am thankful that I don't have to go anywhere today and can just enjoy the kids and the snow and the mess that comes with it.

Helpful...

Livee is so willing to be helpful.  Here is what happened yesterday.
Livee comes to me and says "When we fix the hot tub?" (We have a hot tub in the back that needs some wiring done)Livee asks.
Me "When we fix the hot tub?"  I usually repeat what she says just to make sure I understood her language=).
"Yeah"
"We have to get some money first."
"Money?"  She pauses and is doing some thinking, and then her eyes widen and she lights up and says "I have some money."  She runs to her bedroom and comes back down stairs and says "Here mommy, fix hot tub."  She handed me her only 2 quarters.
She is so sweet.  I wish my older kids would hand over their money so easily.

Thinking of mom today.  Aleena's birthday is tomorrow and it will be the first grandchild birthday she hasn't been here for.  She always made it a point to make a card and send a little something in the mail.
I am wondering how Dad will do today.  He is attending a funeral of a young lady that lost her husband.  Somedays I have such a strong urge to just pick up everything and move home.  I know it probably isn't the answer, but it doesn't stop me from feeling that way.
I wanted to call her this morning and talk about a few things:  Savanna asked me this morning for $8.  She needed to give some money to her friend.  Her mom was going to get her a crown for her costume.  Savanna didn't think we would have time to get one.  I told her I would get her one.  Then she asked for a new pair of shoes for her costume.  I told her to look in my closet.  Then she showed me the dress/costume her friend had given her to wear that the mom put together.  It is very pretty.  She is going to be Miss Idaho. - Here are my thoughts on the situation *Why is her friend's mom making her costume and I wasn't aware of it?  *I need to not be at work so much so I know what is going on *Am I working to much? *Does she think I am to busy to ask me for things? *Why would she assume that we don't have time to get her something?  *I appreciate the time her friends mom put into her costume, but I wanted that to be me. * 8$ for a crown? *I need to figure out how to cut back at work? *She doesn't need me anymore. *She is growing up way to fast.
I know some of my thoughts are not rash, or reasonable, but for some reason talking to mom about these things helped me work them out because she would help me reason out the situation.

Well, off to the races....

Bed Magnet...

Livee has been my worst child in the sleeping department. She sleeps, but she has to be with in 1/2 mm. of me. We have made her a little bed on the floor in our room to see if that would help in the transition. It is helping, but she still has nights where she ends up in my bed. Here is how last night was. We fall asleep on my bed. Well, I fell asleep first, then she reluctantly snuggled by me and fell asleep. Brad gets home from his soft ball game and puts her in her nest in the floor. About 2 am she finds her way back to my bed. She is very quiet about it and just slips right in. She gets in the middle of us. We have a King size bed, so there is room, but for some reason she thinks she needs the middle half. Around 4:30 I decided to move to the couch because I just sometimes need to sleep without anyone touching me. So she is nice and comfy on my pillow in my spot, sound asleep. I get up at 5:30 to take Savanna to early volleyball. I get back and by this time Brad is up and in the shower, so I very quietly slip into Brad's spot. I think I was safe for about 45 minutes, then pretty soon I feel little hands, a little bum, and little feet trying to spoon with me. She is still asleep, but just knows where I am. By the time I got up to take the kids to school, she had successfully made it back to the side I was sleeping on and had pretty much nudged me out trying to spoon. I just had to chuckle. She is my little bed magnet. She just knows if I am in the bed. There are a few nights where she decides she wants to spoon with Dad, but not very many. I don't get that. Anyways. She is my little snuggler. I love her and will someday miss these snuggle days. I do need to get her in her own bed one of these days.

Livee words...

Livee has a few new sayings. She gets a little camera shy when I ask her to say them.

"Hoe-wee Tow" Holy Cow.
"Awtume" Awesome.

I bought her some little silver sparkly shoes to prance around in, and she
"Mom, are dee my awtume dooz." Are these my awesome shoes?

With the kids in school, we have had some quiet time around the house. She has been so good. She has really taken a liking to building with the blocks and doing some coloring. A few times we have just snuggled back in bed and whispered and giggled. She is getting a bit bossy. She already tells me how she wants her hair. She wants 2 pony tails usually, and she is very picky as to what color of rubber bands she wears. She doesn't like it when I pick her clothes out either. Wow, to think she is only 2 1/2. Very mature young lady=). She is quite the little parrot also. Anything Aleena does, she is right behind her saying and doing exactly what she does. Aleena is typically pretty patient.
This little video isn't anything spectactular, but Aleena is such a bug person. She is not afraid. Plus I love how they both say Catepillar. Aleena says it first. Then if you listen Livee says it at the end.

Family Room Forts and capri sun purses

Today I am thankful for Family Room Forts. The thing that was different about it today is that Livee actually got in it. She normally just wants to rip all the blankets down and hear the kids cry. She was loving just playing in it, laying in it, eating popcorn in it. Plus it kept the other kids
entertained.
So I decided I would craft for a minute. This craft I have been saving up for. A capri-sun purse. We don't buy those very often and so the last time we had them, I had all the kids save their packages. Now I might have to go get some just so I can make a few more. I am sure when the other kids see that I gave this one to Aleena, they will want one too. I did this one with zig zags, but I think the next one, I will do with a straight stitch. I think it will look neater. Plus, I kind of made up putting the bottom in. That will definitely be revamped for next time. And note to self, put the handles on before sewing all together, it would have been easier, the plastic doesn't bend very easily.
