Kaydee and I drove to St. George a while ago. On our way through we stopped and ate lunch in Provo right across from the old Tabernacle. It recently had a big fire and pretty much destroyed it. My dad graduated from BYU. He had his Senior Recital in that Tabernacle. We stopped and took a picture for dad. (Have to add picture from camera). That lead to a conversation of when dad started playing piano. Neither of us knew that answer so I asked dad. He said he started around the age of 5. He would walk to May Poulton's house across the fields. This is when he lived there at Kathy Poulton's place. May Poulton lived towards Kaydee's house. He later took from Noreen Clark. No one else of his siblings took music lessons. They really loved to sing together though. He remembers they didn't have a piano for quite some time. They finally saved up and got a push organ. They put it in the front where there was no stove. He always had to wear his coat when he was practicing. He said he remembers having a reoccuring dream when he was little of pushing the organ out the window.
He also was talking about how they used to have a susteen (not sure how to spell) under their house. It was a concrete room used to fill up with water. The canal would run into it and then they would pump it in the house out of a pump. They would sometimes get their red wagon and 2 ten gallon containers and walk and fill them up for laundry or they would sometimes fill them up for drinking water at the neighbors house. They eventually just started filling up their containers more then using their susteen.
