So it is official, I got layed off yesterday. I saw it coming. Lots of snow makes for a slow golf course. My hours were really cut back, they changed their hours for the winter to 7 pm, and I could tell in the volume of our business that it was coming. It wasn't just me. There were a couple others too. It is nothing personal, just business. Today while sitting in church, listening to everyone's testimonies, my heart was so full. Yeah, I could be sad, but I really am not. The Lord works in such mysterious ways. I have been feeling lately that maybe I need to be at home more, and get our family reconnected. But was torn between bringing home extra money. Well, here I am, back at being a full time mom. I have done quite a bit of reflecting today. I felt a little weird being jobless. Then I got this sense of newness and excitement. I don't have to worry about what's for dinner while I am at work, don't have to miss any events because I had to work, don't have to worry if kids homework is getting done, why they are still awake when I get home, plus it will give Brad a break from being the taxi and from being Mr. Mom. Not every dad can do the mom thing. I guess I needed some time away from my motherly duties to realize how much I love my motherly duties.
On another note, we had our first challenge with our new no sleepover rule. Hallie had an invite to a birthday sleepover. She stayed in the bathroom for about an hour rebelling because she couldn't stay the night. She stayed at the party until 11 pm. Yes, she wanted.to stay longer but she very willingly cake home. When she got home she told me all about her party, and then crashed in her bed. Jase went and played at his cousins house, and came home around 9. He was so tired when I picked him up, he couldn't't even sit up in the car. Savanna had a primary party, and was home by 10. It did require me to do some extra running around to get kids, but it was so nice to go to sleep without saying "be quiet" countless times, and to wake up to a quiet house without saying "be quiet, kids are still sleeping" countless times, and to well rested kids, and the kids didn't really miss out on much. We will see if it gets any easier as we go through a few more weekends.
Again, my heart is full today and I have so may things to be thankful for.
