Today I filled my first cannery assignment. I have always had excuses to not sign up, but decided I needed to. They were canning peaches. It sure brought back a lot of memories from my teen age years. My sisters and I used to work seed potato during the summer. I also spent a summer with my cousin in Utah working in a cherry cannery. It took me the first 1/2 hour to get used to the conveyor belt. I was on the slicer machine. My job was to put the peach in a cup that has a wedge in it, and then there is a machine that pushes it onto the wedge and splits it down the middle. It wasn't to hard. I just really felt good about doing my part in helping out those in need. Our family has been more than blessed in the past couple months, so I found this a great way to give back.
