Swimming

We are so excited to be out swimming again.  The pool got a new slide this year.  The kids LOVE it.  Livee went down once and it scared her a bit because she went under water.  She knows how to go under water.  It just took her by surprise so she hasn't gone down it again.  But that doesn't stop her from having fun swimming.  I love the pool because it gives the kids a reason to get up and do their chores and practice piano.  I am going to try and focus on piano for the summer.  Summer Lovin'.

X-ray time

Hallie had her 6 month x-rays last week.  Hallie, Quincey (Hal's cousin) and I drove to Boise together.  With Driver's Ed, Jase baseball, Aleena softball and Savanna play practice, we decided to just go and come back in the same day plus everyone in Boise was still in school.  The trip went fairly quick.  We had x-rays first.  Hallie keeps her brace off for at least 6 hours before and they see how her back reacts without the support.  Then they put the brace on and took one.  They need to see if the new brace is supporting her in the right spots or if they need to do adjustments.  Dr. Showalter reads the xrays and measures the curve.  Out of brace she was only a 19 degree curve and in brace a 14 degree curve.  We haven't seen those low numbers before.  We were excited.  After that appointment we headed over to see Dr Tom who is the brace man.  He was pleased with the out of brace number but wished there was more of a difference with the brace on.  He wonders if the technicians didn't tighten it enough.  I should have put it on but I figured they would know how to.  Anyways, we just need to keep doing what we are doing.  He did make tighter marks to work up to.  Nothing serious.  According to her bones she still has a couple years of growing. There is a growth plate that grows like an umbrella and then fills in. They measure it from 0-5. 5 being filled in which means she is done growing.  She is at a 0. The plate isn't even visible yet.  Once it is visible on the xrays, it typically grows and fills in within a couple years.  She actually grew  2 inches since our visit in January. She is 4' 10".   Keep it up Hal.
We made a little stop at Bath & Body Works and then hit Cold Stone and topped it off with Claire's.  Hallie has yet to experience B&BW and Cold stone so it was fun helping her and Quin pick out some fun smelly stuff.
