I got the kids off to school today. I forgot how quiet and how much I can get done when there aren't interruptions every 15 minutes. Livee was a bit bored but I found some things to help her out. She went for a ride with Grampa into Burley to pick up parts so for about 1 1/2 hours I was all by myself. It was magical. It took everything in me to NOT climb into my bed and just take a nap. I cleaned house. After Grampa got home, we headed out to re-wire the raspberries. Livee played kitties and in Jase's fort while we did that. Then I had her shuck some corn on the cob for dinner. She thought that was grand fun to feed the husks to the cows next door. She kept telling me she wanted a project "I don't want to color. I want a project where I can cut and use my glue." Boy I am glad she is starting preschool next week. She will be in school-project heaven. She did have a few "When are we picking up the kids?" moments. But for the most part she did good, and I got a ton done.
Everyone seemed very pleased with their first day of school and were happy with their teachers and classes. Savanna has to do some rearranging for her choir class but will hopefully get that taken care of tomorrow. Tomorrow brings another big day. Hallie has her first volleyball game here in Oakley and Savanna has her first big game in Raft River. I am going to try and hit both of them. Savanna has been moved up to varsity. She was already going to dress down for varsity but a girls is injured and she was chosen to take her place for a couple weeks. So she should get some game time. It is a lot of responsibility and a big opportunity for her. She has worked hard. She did camps this summer and takes the ball outside almost daily to get some sort of practice in, plus has been coming to the jr high practices. I think she deserves it but I am the parent, so my opinion is a bit biased.
Jase had another session today. Maybe it's because our week was easy last week, but he really had a great week. His homework was to record some ABC's of his behavior and I don't think he really got in trouble. I was very pleased. He learned about the "turtle" technique today. We are going to try and implement that. It is a word that him and I can say to each other when our voices begin to get elevated or anger starts to appear. It just helps remind us to stop, and breathe and really think about what is coming out of our mouths and reassess the situation. I used it on him once tonight. He didn't think it was very nice. We will see how it goes. I might feel the same way when he uses it on me.
Well, gotta tuck kids in to bed. Good night.
