I Can't Help Falling In Love

Twin Falls is having a "VOICE" contest.  You send an email and get an assigned time to come audition.  You got 3 minutes.  It had to a capella, which means only you with no accompaniment.  Her time was 9:33 pm.  Strange time, but it all worked out.  I drove her over.  She still hadn't completely decided what to sing until we got there.  She was really wanting to sing the Elvis song but she wasn't sure because she hadn't practiced it much.  But she went for it.  She said the Spirit guided her, :).  I didn't think I was going to be able to watch her, but because she is a minor, they allowed one parent to go in.  I almost forgot to record so that is why the first words are missing.  She did great.  They will pick the top 20 by Feb. 4.  And then they will sing again for the top 10.  And then there will be a winner.  I always enjoy when I get to make memories like that with my kids.  We have some great conversations in the car together.

Sewing projects

Who would have thought I would have turned into the seamstress.  My mom did lots of sewing when we were kids.  She sewed our underwear, swimsuits, dresses, shirts.  Everything.  I learned to sew as a kid.  We were all in a 4-H sewing group usually every summer.  I never loved it.  I made a few things for my girls when they were little.  This last year, I just started with a couple little sewing alters.  Not sure even what.  I think it was someone's pants?  And pretty soon, I was adding sleeves to prom dresses, and then I decided to do a sewing class over the summer and I could help my girls learn to sew at the same time.  And since then, I just have stayed busy with helping alter pants, fix broken zippers, hem dance costumes, make blankets for Christmas, (I made 25 minky blankets for this last Christmas), bags.  Anyways, my sewing has just taken off.  It is a great way for me to work from home.  

     I found this bag pattern at the local quilt shop, The Gathering Place.  It is a fabric, quilting heaven.  I made my girls some of these for Christmas as makeup bags and then I got two orders.  I love to see how the fabrics end up going together.
