Make up

This picture does not do her justice and you can't really see the details but Hallie is wearing make up now.  We have a family rule of 12.  She was a bit nervous at first to do it so I did for her the first time and then she took over.  She is turning into quite a young lady.  Her eyelashes are so long that they had a hard time not sticking to each other when she would blink.  We will have to do some real pictures and get some good close ups.  Sure love ya Hal.

Weekend away...

Saturday we headed over to Kaydee's.  Amy's baby, Abrahm, was getting blessed on Sunday in Kimberly, so we thought we would make a weekend of it.  Quincey is on a volleyball league so we stopped by to watch her play for a bit.  Makes me excited for Jr. Hi volleyball to start.  She is getting to be quite a good player.  Savanna needed to find her new shoes for her therapy and wanted to do her birthday shopping since we were in town so we dropped kids off at the house and Savanna, Quincey, Kaydee and I went shopping.  Holy Smokes Savanna was a super crabby patty.  She couldn't find anything she liked.  And things are more expensive her size and so she didn't get very many things with her money.  Anyways, I am glad we survived that part and yes we found her some shoes.  I had a mini heart a stroke when we saw the price tag.  These better work.  Kaydee was a nice sister and bought us a pedicure while we waited for the girls.  It was nice and now my toes are ready for my girls vacation that is coming up.  We stayed the night at Kaydee's.  The kids discovered new baby bunnies.  They are pretty cute.   No, we are not getting one.  The baby blessing was good.  We got to hold that cute little baby.  My kids were goo goo ga ga over him.  Livee couldn't stop touching him and just smiling at him.  Even Jase was into it.  It is amazing how kids have a natural gentle touch with babies. 
It was a great weekend.  The kids always want to stay longer. 

Diagnosis for Savanna

Savanna's first physical therapy session was really great.  I wasn't sure what to expect.  I haven't ever had to deal with PT.  I was worried there was something serious wrong, yet at the same time didn't want to hear that it was just growing pains.  He used this first appointment to do some tests to see where her pelvis was sitting and get a plan of action.  Most of the tests were done on the left side and the right side and the angles compared.  Some of them were 25 degrees different.  6 or 7 are normal.  So her pelvis is tilted a bit forward and rotated to one side while her upper body is rotated the opposite way.  The hip pain comes from bones not lining up properly and doing some rubbing and some shifting of bone, muscle responsibility.  He then tested her feet and how she stands because her ankle has been bothering her too.  She is standing on the inside of her feet which is rolling her ankle in and then her knees are rolled in and then it twists her hip in.  It all made sense.  I remember when she was younger she would really walk on the inside of her shoes and I had a few thoughts of "Is this normal?" but never thought more of it.  The PT put a pair of supportive shoes on her and had her walk for a minute and retested her upper body allignment and we could already see an improvement.  So step one is getting a supportive shoe.  He gave us a list to pick from.  Now the crazy part about this is I thought Savanna had good shoes.  I let her pick out a "Fancy" pair in the fall.  $90 Nike sport shoe to use for sports.  He gave those shoes a total thumbs down.  I learned a lot about a supportive shoe.  So, after getting the shoes and wearing them for a bit, he wants to see her once a week for about a month and then re-evaluate.  It might not take too much to get her straightened back out.  I am super relieved it isn't anything permanent or something that requires any surgery.

Baby Abrahm

We have a new cousin in our family.  We went to church with them so we could see him get blessed.  He is so cute.  My kids were smooching him all over.  Livee said "His cheeks are always like this" -she puffs her cheeks up with lots of air.  After we went to their house and they fed us a yummy yum yum lunch.  The cousins got to play and have fun.  Welcome to the family Abrahm.

Savanna's Hips

Savanna has been having some hip pain and issues these past 3 or 4 months like I mentioned before.  We finally got into the dr. just to see what was going on.  Her x-rays came back normal so that is good.  He said that what can happen is the muscles are just not developed in a balanced way.  He wants her to try some physical therapy and see if that helps.  She has her first session today after school. 

Happy Birthday

It was Hallie's big 12th birthday yesterday. I took her and her friend Tiare to lunch at Searle's and after school she got to bring Tiare home. She requested angel food cake with fluffy cream cheese frosting. I got such a kick out of her. She comes home and sees her cake cooling and says "mom, what does angel food cake taste like?". Apparantly she never tasted it. Not sure why she requested a cake she hasn't had.
Anyways. Happy Birthday. I love you.

Toothless

Aleena lost another tooth. Her other front one will be gone soon. After school it was super wiggly. She tried her hardest to keep it attached so she could show her dad. It finally just fell out around 8.

Brace and birthday

It was time for Hallie's 6 month x-rays.  Dr. Sh said she is looking really good.  She has been at a 20' the last couple rounds and this time she is actually at 19'.  I was super worried about this time because for about a month there, her brace just really seemed super tight when I would put it on her before bed.  She typically takes it off between 3:30 and 5 ish, depending on the day, and then we stick it back on her around 9 when she is getting ready for bed.  I was concerned that mayber her curve was getting worse, but my fears were calmed.  Dr. Sh even mentioned a possible "brace holiday".  She is close to outgrowing this brace and so he said maybe we could see how things go without one for a bit.  He can't give us an exact amount of time, maybe 6 months, 9 months maybe even a year.  It just depends on how her back does without it.  She was super excited. 

Since we were in Boise and it is close to Hallie's birthday, we decided to combine the two.  Lexey, her cousin, just had a birthday also and so Hallie invited her to come along and have a shopping day. So I gave Hallie money to shop with as her gift (those are the easiest presents) We went up on Tuesday and since there was no school on Wednesday, stayed the night at Aunt Amylee's.  The girls had such a great time.  I did bring Livee since nobody was at home.  She thought for sure she needed something at every store also.  Chris and Amylee did treat us to some yummy ice cream at a fix your own place.  It was super yummy.  We got to meet their newest member of family, Lewy, their dog.  He is super cute.  Loved  his ears.  Hallie and Lex got to see their cousins and hang out, although I think we made it a little hard for them to get to school on time, sorry.  The girls bought really fun and cute things.  Hallie is really into neon pink.  She bought everything pink.  It was a lot of fun.  Happy Birthday Hallie.

Rough life

Livee has a rough life being the only one home in the day. She is my little diva in her sunglasses. We bought them the other day. It took her 30 minutes to find the perfect pair. She would look in every mirror possible that day and say "I look so awesome" "these make me look so cute". She is too funny. I love her to death.

Traumatic Moment

Should not be telling this story publicly but it happened and I want to remember it.  Brad and I decided to throw in a movie tonight.  War Horse.  The kids were entertained upstairs and we thought we could get a few moments of silence in.  Towards the end the kids came down and were in and out of the movie watching.  I will try not to give too many details for those that haven't seen it yet, but Livee started watching it about the time when they hook Joey up to the front line to pull this big heavy thing.  It shows them shooting the sick tired horses that are super skinny and not taken care of.  I am pretty sure this traumatized her.  I know, not a proud mother moment but sometimes kids see things and I can't take it back.  She was almost in tears very concerned that they were going to shoot the other horses.  Her little bottom lip would get a quivering when she would ask questions about what was going to happen.  She got pretty emotional in the tangled part too.  "Poor horsey." She started asking questions about "how come grama Judy died?  How did she get sick?"  These are some pretty serious questions and it really made me realize that kids are super smart and very in tune with their feelings.  Needless to say, there is a reason it is rated pg-13.  I hope I haven't done too much damage.

Boat Regatta

Jase participated in his first Boat Regatta for scouts today.  Him and Brad really painted it cool.  Jase placed 2nd place.  He was super proud.  The parents had a chance to run their boats and Brad was SUPER proud that he got 1st among the parents.  Super fun.

Genetics

Savanna has really been struggling with her hip.  It has been bothering her quite a bit.  She tried to do track but when she was sprinting it popped out of joint and it buckled her.  She really isn't a wimpy kid.  She loves to be athletic so she is concerned with what the future will bring her physically.  She is starting to learn her limits and what motions make it hurt more-(like sprinting.)  She is doing a weight/stregnthening class on tuesday and thursday mornings before school.  Well it isn't a class.  It is optional but the coaches are encouraging the athletes to stay in shape during the off season.  I think it is great because she doesn't have much else right now.  She was worried how her hip would do but it is doing fine.  Her other muscles are so sore she can hardly walk up the stairs.  I came downstairs and she was covered head to toe in icy hot.  It was quite comical.  She is gonna be one strong girl if she keeps it up.  She LOVES volleyball and wants a future in it so she is working hard and she is quite a talented volleyball player. 

She was born with hip dysplasia so I am not sure if it is a result of that or what.  My grama had both hers replaced, my uncle, my mom's hips needed replaced, and my brother just had his done at age 42.    To be continued....

Dear Edwina

The kids brought home some pictures of them during the play and I finally got them scanned.  

Savanna as Becky, the ditzy cheerleader. She was the tallest kid out there.

This is at the end of the song about Queen Boola Boola making him all sorts of food like Octopus stew and he had to make these gross faces and shake his head no and finally she offers him Peanut Butter and Jelly.  This song couldn't be more fitting.

Missing

Dear Mom, I haven't wrote you in a while. I think about you often. Things are pretty chaotic around here. I am noticing that chaotic times are when I am looking for your shoulder to lean on. The basement is torn apart. Hopefully you aren't cussing Brad and I for the changes we are making. Hopefully by thursday we can start putting things away and get caught back up. I spent spring break with Linden's kids so Michelle could recover from surgery. So we were kind of trapped here. 10 kids, 1 mom. So Kell and Kaydee took turns visiting through out the week. The house still hasn't recovered because of our carpet deadline. I woke up sick on saturday and am really feeling it today.
Amy had her baby a couple weeks ago. Abrahm. He is looks Oliver. I am sure you were with his spirit before he came down here.
I was wanting a few recipes and wished I could have called you. Dad was missing your chili. Mine just doesn't taste different than he is used too. Then dad requested carrot cake for his birthday. Oh and remember the cake you would make and serve that warm sweet butter sauce on top? What was that?
I really hope dad is surviving with us here. He doesn't complain much so it is hard for me to tell. Spring is finally here. We are all ready for some outside fresh air.
I found the discs with the picture slides of you as a kid. I don't remember seeing a lot of those pictures. You were such a beautiful young lady. I never thought Cher looked like you but she really did. You have the same noses. I am so glad you put those on discs. I am planning on making a book out of them
hopefully soon. Found dad's too. You two made a cute couple.
On the good news front, Brad is getting another promotion at work. Not sure exactly what his title will be, but I think he will be the Burley plant manager. We have truely been blessed with this job. More than we could have ever imagined.
Oh yeah, dad chopped down that big old pine tree by the mail box a few days ago. Linden helped. Linden says he remembers when you guys planted it. He could run and jump over it. It was becoming a monster...
