New Additions

We have had an emotional couple days. It all started about Wednesday. Tigga started into labor. But she was having a really hard time. Not eating, drinking or going potty. And she started to really smell and was having a really hard time. We thought maybe she had a baby in her that was dead but not coming out. We weren't sure she was going to make it through the night, but we woke up to 3 baby kittens. 1 kitten did come out dead. But after that, Tigga just didn't really perk back up. She wouldn't drink, eat. She was trying to do her best with the babies but she just had no energy. She couldn't get them clean, her self clean, and she started to smell again. Grama came over, bless her heart, and took her to the vet. The one vet told her she needed a hysterectomy. Her bladder and uterus were very large. So they sent her to a different hospital that could do a surgery. They got to the second hospital and they said she is so full of infection that they thought she may not make it. They could do surgery but she may have to be in the hospital for 7 days at $800 a day-Yikes, and she may not make it. They told us that her babies shouldn't nurse on her because she might pass some of her infection. So we brought her home and decided to see how she did. We figured we would put her down the next day. The kids were pretty upset. We got a bottle and formula set for the babies. They need fed, wiped, burped, and groomed every 2-3 hours. Oh-and they have to stay warm. The kids are all excited about this part. Okay, so if that isn't enough, we wake up Saturday morning and Tigga Mama is acting 100 x's better. They had given her an atibiotic shot and a nutrition balloon insert of some sort and so she had perked right up. Now we are faced with the decision of are we prolonging the inevitable or what. We have some very dear friends that new Savanna was very upset over the whole deal, so they came over and insisted on taking Tigga to their vet. They are animal lovers and a close relationship with their vet. They figured they would just have her checked out and if she needed put down they would do it for us. They called from the vet and Tigga had a torn uterus and it had gotten infected and was making her sick. They did a hysterectomy and she seems to be doing good. They just took the babies down to her to see if they could get her nursing again. And to think that we were going to have her put down this morning. My brother was going to take her for us, but he had to work until later. I guess whatever is suppose to happen will happen.

Here are our babies. They match the mom's color. I think they will be siamese looking when they get older. The white furry thing is a stuffed animal of the kids. They are pretty much identical, except one is chubby, one is skinny. So if anyone is interested in adopting a kitten in about 6 weeks they will be looking for a new home.

Aleena can't keep her hands off of them. She hears one little meow and is right there to mother them. She is very concerned. They all are. And they are all relieved to hear Tigga Mama is doing good. We'll keep you posted on Mama & Babies.
