baseball

Brad and Jase have been so sweet to watch this weekend. Jase is playing his first season of baseball. He is at practice at this very moment. Brad went and got him a new mitt and bat and balls and all weekend Brad has been giving him baseball advise. They have been practicing catch and hitting. I know Brad loves baseball but he has been so excited for Jase to start. It is like he is a little kid again. I love to see them both love it so much.

A few randoms...

We made a trip to Shoshone Falls.  Hallie isn't in this picture because she was too chicken to come out on the view deck.  She thought for sure we were all going to die out there.

Here is a look of our house from the dam road.  We live by the Oakley dam.  It is about a 10  minute drive to the water.  I just wanted some of my non-Oakley friends to see what my country looks like here. 

The red wall is the actual dam wall.  On the other side is where the big O is painted that you can see from my backyard.  The water is getting pretty full. 

Here are some shots from where we usually go fishing.  This is where Trapper Creek flows into the dam.

This is where Goosecreek (spelling?)flows in.  I really didn't pay attention to the world around me when I was younger.  I grew up here and am learning all sorts of stuff about Oakley. 

We all got out and did some rock skipping.  That was pretty fun.  I can't skip a rock worth a darn.  Livee just plopped the biggest ones her tiny hands could pick up.  Aleena liked to find the rocks for everyone else to skip. 

Big Bug...

My computer has been in the hospital for a bit.  She got a big bug.  I have been blogging from my phone and a bit from my dad's laptop.  But I need to play catch up.  I will start with today.  We had a nice Memorial Day.  Kell stayed the night last night with her kids so she could be here for the day.  We headed up to the cemetary around 11.  We did a bit of fixn and put some flowers on a few headstones.  It has been a bit chaotic today and is just suddenly hitting me that we were their because mom is not with us anymore.  That might sound a little strange, but at times, I forget she is gone.  She is missing these chaotic events where the kids are playing and being best friends.  I miss her tonight.  She really was one of my best friends.

Here are some pictures from up there.  We fixed Cher's letters, the fence needed put back, and some weed maintanance.  Someone had brought up a pretty swag for the top of grama and grampa's headstone.  It was nice.  Colder than heck, but nice.

I dont think I posted this yet, I thought I did but didnt see it, so sorry if it was already here. My dad has really been loving his extra days off he has. Gardening and yard work is his love. He really is a hard worker. He has his flower bed all pretty and his raspberries are looking good and has part of his garden planted. The weather has been wet and cold.
Here are a few pictures. These pictures are for you, Mom. Dad mentioned the other day that we should take a picture and send it to you. He has one hanging on the fridge that he took and printed it out.

fire n marshmallows.

My kids think we need to have a fire every night to sit around. We decided to have a small one. It is nice to sit around and just chill without the distractions. Even Boomer likes it. I am going to have to stock up on marshmallows.

Anniversary

Brad and I had our 14th anniversary the other day. We went to Twin Falls. We went to dinner at Carino's. That's our favorite place to eat. After we went and walked around the mall. We looked and tried on some pretty mother rings. Found one I really liked. We decided instead of giving each other a gift we would just pick out our own things. I found these really cute outdoor chairs, and some super comfy They really brighten up the front porch. Brad didn't find anything, except a cooler. We headed for ice cream on our way home. I opted for Dairt Queen. He was holding off for Baskin Robbins. We get to BR and they are temporary closed. So then he settled for Arctic Circle across the street where the drive thru line was forever long. He finally got his ice cream. It's hard to believe it has been 14 years. I love you babe, more and more each year.

Parenting Help...

I know I have many faults as a parent and am always looking for ways to improve.  I came across this website HERE familyvolley.blogspot.com.  She is an instructor at BYU in Family Psychology.  I was reading a post about controlling back talking.  She just really reminded me that I need to not be multi-tasking while I am talking to my kids.  I am so guilty of that.  I will be on the computer, or on my phone or doing laundry.  I need to stop what I am doing and give my kids my full attention.  They know when we aren't paying attention.  So this week I am going to really work on that.  I don't have rotten kids, but there are times when they get a bit sassy and I can change the way I am and that will hopefully change their reaction to things.  Anyways, check her out. 

Aleena Graduation...

Aleena's class had a small graduation ceremony. She was so proud to be graduating.  She is so proud to be officially a First Grader. 

Mrs. Bowen was Aleena's teacher.

Rabbits

My sister down the road got 2 bunnies at Easter time. Livee is getting pretty brave. She will get right in there and just wrestle one until she has it. She has even learned that you have to hang on to their back legs or you get your arms all scratched up. Poor little rabbits.

I jad some extra scraps and was needing a project, so I pieced this little sundress together for Livee. It wasn't to hard. I will add the website where I found the pattern. Don't have it on my phone. She was being so cranky when I was trying it on her. But I think they are still cute pictures.

Montana

I got to go on a road trip 2 weekends ago. My brother, Greg and his family live there in a town called Melstone. It is about an hour past Billings. Grampa drove his car and was looking for a travel buddy. I was going to take my oldest 3 kids but Savanna got invited to play 2 soccer games in Boise and Hallie decided she wanted to stay home with daddy since he had been to Florida. She knew she would get some good quality time with him with a couple of the kids gone.
It was a nice drive. Very pretty. Jase was a bit grumpy on the drive there because of how long it took. I think he thought I was joking when I told him how long it was going to take. It was funny because we stopped in Bozeman for some lunch and he was mad because I told him we still had about 3-4 hours left so he refused to eat lunch. All we were having was a Subway sandwhich. So I let him go with out. So the funny part of that is on the way home we were stopping again for lunch and I asked him if he was hungry and he says "Yeah, can I have a Subway? Ever since I missed last time, I have really wanted a Subway." Dad and I both just looked at each other and chuckled. Needless to say we had Subway again.
Back to the trip. It was nice seeing them. Jase got to ride horses, play with puppies and play in the mud. We spent saturday in Billings. We went to Famous Dave's for lunch. Oooh, it was so good. We did a little shopping. Stopped at Cabella's. That is a fun store. Dad or I hadn't been in it before. Dad really liked it. We got some pizzas and headed home. Greg took the scenic route home. There is a big coal mine out there in the middle of nowhere. We got to see quite a few big herds of elk. Jase didn't bring his glasses so he would use mine. He thinks he only needs them for school. Not being able to see things will help him want to wear them more outside of school.
Sunday we went to their branch. Greg is in the bishopric. They have a tiny little building but it was so full of the spirit.
After church, we had a yummy ham dinner and just chilled. I went out and took some pictures and we played with the puppies. The kids were riding horses and playing basketball. Later, we went out to shoot prarie dogs. It was pretty cold so we didn't see very many so we put a plastic cup out to hit. We headed home and Greg got the truck stuck in some mud. There is no cell service so the kids ran about a mile to get some help from his boss. Luckily it was only a mile they had to go.
It was fun. I got to do lots of chatting and got to just hang out. We really should make it out there more often.
On our way home we stopped in Idaho Falls at the Army Surplus Store. It was a really cool store. Jase was wanting a hat with furry flaps and they have a whole wall of them.
Jase had a good time. He didn't love the drive, but he was much more patient on the way home. Thanks to my sister for helping out at the home front with the kids.
