Friday July 5

We have loved having a house full this weekend.  Yesterday Uncle Nate took us for a ride up to the Dam in the red beast.  It can seat like 20 people.  The kids started out throwing rocks and skipping rocks.  Tyler won the rock skipping contest with 10 skips.  It was an awesome throw.  Then the kids ended up swimming.  What knuckle heads.  I am really having a hard time keeping Livee away from water.  She got her toes wet but I kept waiting for her to trip and fall.  I swear she is more crazy with this cast on.  She has even figured out how to lay in the swing and swing.  We were just getting to an independent stage of sleeping in her own  bed, wiping her own bumb, getting herself dressed.
Later after dinner, which was yummy cheesy hamburger soup, we took Lucy and Oscar for a walk.  The weather had cleared up so the other kids went swimming so the littles needed something to do.  Livee and Kaicey walked the dogs.  They are cute.

Berlinguet Power

The other Berlinguets came for a fun visit on Wednesday.  It was so fun to see them.  Gramma Lisa was in Boise for business and was able to spend some time with us.  Dave, Kayla and Clayton hadn't been to our place before so if was fun showing them our little town. We headed into Twin later to pick up Hallie at volleyball camp so she could see everyone too.  We decided to stop and take a ride at Nazz cart.  That was a sweaty, muggy, plumber's crack, awesome customer service filled time.  I can't believe they are going out of business (very sarcastic).  We then headed into dinner at Johnny Carino's.  It was fun watching the kids laugh together and Dave, Brad and Lisa telling stories.  We are so blessed to be a part of such a fun family.

ER again.

I woke up Monday and got ready to take Hallie to Twin to her volleyball camp.  All the kids came so we could do a little shopping and playing at Kaydee's for a minute.  Little did I know that we would spend the afternoon at the ER with Livee.  There were lots of kids and a sprinkler on the trampoline.  They were playing a tag game where the mat is base.  A neighbor girl got overly excited to tag Livee and she went flying off backwards and landed on her back with her left arm curled behind her.  I was sitting inside the house where I could see the tramp.  The doorway was blocking my view from the actual event.  Kaydee said "Livee just fell off" so I got up to go check on her and Jase was running to the door and we got to the door at the same time.  He was a bit flushed in color and with panic in his voice.  As I opened the door I could hear Livee crying and a couple other kids making some noise and Jase yelling "Livee just broke her arm!".  I looked over and sure enough her arm looked broken.  I scooped her up with her arm on top of her belly so it didn't have to dangle there.  Kaydee grabbed her a towel so she could dry off plus I wanted to cover it up so she didn't have to look.  I was a little freaked out but held it together pretty good.  I was way more freaked out during the initial shock of the first moments of the accident last summer when she burned her foot.
Luckily, Kaydee was there and we calmed kids down and headed to the emergency room.  We figured the quicker we went, the quicker they could relieve the pain.  She was in quite a bit of pain.  They got us in to our own room pretty quickly.  The nurses were all very nice.  She even got a stuffed bunny that she named cotton candy. The kids were all very concerned and were texting a lot to Aunt Kaydee.  She kept them calm and updated so that they wouldn't have to worry.  The hard part was getting an IV.  It took 5 pokes to get it.  2 in elbow bend, 2 in top of hand and finally the leg.  The nurses were really trying their best but it was pretty miserable to watch and to keep my patients.  After getting the IV set, they were able  to get her some morphine which worked its magic pretty quickly. She able to finally rest for a bit while the Dr came and got all his equipment.  They had to hunt down some smaller finger holder things that hangs her arm up while they set it.  It is never fun listening to the risk factors and signing the paper  of the worste case scenarios.  "Her breathing might slow down as a result of the sedative but we have a crash cart right outside the door" "We will have a Respitory (person?) in the room at all times".  Yikes.  Dr. J told me he would let me know when things might get a little icky in case I want to step out.  They got her all hooked up to the computer and got all the stuff ready-water, rolls of gauze stuff, weights, other stuff. He then hung her fingers up and got a strap on her bicep to hang the weight.  This is when the warning came.  I decided to step out of the room.  As I was leaving the room, a huge gush of emotion just hit me and the tears started coming.  I didn't really want to cry.  I knew she was in good hands but I think leaving her in there without me hurt a little plus just knowing she was hurting and how much this is going to change her summer plus she is so tiny.  Anyways my emotions over took me for a few minutes.  I found the nearest bathroom and took a quick breather and said a little prayer and then I was fine.  I came back into the room after one of the helpers was coming out and  said she was almost done.  They were wrapping her arm up.  She was pretty out of it.  She could still open her eyes but was pretty stoned looking.  They took an after xray and it looked fine so they finished up and left us to wake up.  She woke up pretty good.  No crying or screaming.  She really wanted the blood pressure cuff off.  She didn't like it squeezing her arm.  In the meantime  Kaydee ran to get Hal and Quin at volleyball camp.  They got to come in and see her in her bed awake.  We were just waiting to get released.  After being awake for about 30 minutes they were ready to send us home.  Rhe kids were all ready to see her and make sure she was really ok.  She was still a bit off balance and sleepy so we decided to gather our stuff and drive home while she was feeling good.  She has really done well.  She is only taking her pain medicine at night.  It starts to hurt and itch and she cries but during the day is just her crazy skipping , jumping around crazy girl.  I am worried she is going to fall and hurt her arm or break the other one.

July 4, 2013

We had a great day.  We started the day watching the Rupert parade.  Savanna was on the float to promote the OVAC show that opens next week and Aleena was in a little dance group.  One of Minico's dance teams were having a fund raiser and they learned a dance for the parade.  Her and Macey did it together.  The parade was ok.  Luckily it wasn't super hot and Kell had her canopy there for some shade.  Kaydee met us over there too.  After the parade we hung out long enough for traffic to go away and headed to Kell's.  We used her house to change into our suits and headed over to Harris Pond.  The water there isn't that great but my kids love it.  Livee was not very excited she couldn't get wet but she did pretty good.  She never cried about it or anything. It helped that there was a train to ride on.  Around 6:30, we headed home.  I have had peas ready in the garden that have been waiting for me for a few days, so I headed out to pick peas, which led to shelling them.  Livee and Kaicey were my only helpers.  Livee even figured out how to shell them with her one hand.  The weather took a turn for the worst after that.  Heavy winds-rain.  It lightened up a little and we drove over to Kaydee's to watch fireworks.  We all sat in the cars except for a few crazy kids.  It was a great day.  The kids were wiped.
